16 years ago, the Russian Kathy Rome was attacked in the street by a stranger. She says that the man wanted to pull it and did not accept being ignored. In response, the assailant stabbed her in various parts of the body - including three blows at heart - and opened his belly with a huge cut.
This all happened in broad daylight in a quiet neighborhood. She screamed for help and managed to survive, but of course, never forget those moments of terror.
"Since that day I wondered if anything could have saved me from this experience," says Kathy presentation of Nimb, the revolutionary ring she helped develop.
It seems an accessory any, modern and minimalist look, but has a small button that can be activated in times of danger. Thus, an alert is sent to pre-selected by the user contacts.
Just push the button for 3 seconds and the recipient will receive your location via an app. In response, those who see the distress call sends a confirmation that help is on the way, which will make the ring to vibrate so that the victim is notified.
In addition to protecting people who usually walk alone on the street, the idea is that the Nimb can also help the elderly, children and those with health problems. It is a quick and easy way to ask for help in any situation.
To make the project viable, Kathy and her team launched an online crowdfunding campaign and managed to achieve the necessary funds. In all, nearly 2,000 donors and more than $ 237,000 raised.
Nimb is being produced in the California and at first will cost $ 149. The forecast is that is for sale in the United States from March.
