Brazil is one of the countries that use WhatsApp, says research

Among nine major markets included in a survey conducted by the MEF with 6,000 mobile users, Brazil is the second most use of WhatsApp, behind South Africa. According to a report released by the organization, 76% of mobile subscribers in Brazil make use regular WhatsApp, which is the most popular instant messaging in the country.

Facebook Messenger is in second place, accessed regularly by 64% of respondents Brazilian, followed by SMS (37%) and Snapchat (19%). Telegram and WeChat are regularly used by only 5% and 3% of Brazilians cell, respectively.

In South Africa, WhatsApp is used regularly by 82% of people with mobile lines. The instant messaging is also quite popular in Nigeria (73% regularly access), Germany (72%) and India (63%). In all these, WhatsApp is the most cited as being used regularly. Facebook Messenger, in turn, leads in the USA (65%) and the United Kingdom (59%), while WeChat is most regularly used in China (79%).

The average global search, Facebook Messenger is the most used regularly cited by 56% of 6000 respondents, followed by WhatsApp (50%), SMS (42%), Snapchat (14%), WeChat (13%) and Telegram (3%).

In addition to ask what services and instant messaging apps people use regularly, the survey asked which one is the most used by the respondent. In this case, WhatsApp leads the world: is the most used by 37% of respondents. Facebook Messenger comes next, with 21% preferred, and then SMS (16%), WeChat (9%), Instagram (4%) BBM (3%), MMS (2%), Snapchat (2%) , Line (1%), Skype (1%), Viber (1%), Periscope (1%) and Telegram (1%).

France was the only one of the nine markets included in the survey in which the SMS leads as a means of exchanging messages more regularly used, cited by 70% of respondents, ahead of Facebook Messenger (67%) of Snapchat (33%) and WhatsApp (20%). France is also the market with greater participation of Snapchat among the nine countries in the survey.

The market with the lowest use of SMS is China: only 7% of respondents reported using SMS regularly there.
