Trump uses the same frustration that led to Brexit says Sanders
New York - Sen. Bernie Sanders warned on Wednesday that the Republican Donald Trump can take advantage of the frustration of citizens, the same feeling that led to the triumph of "Brexit" in the UK, who blame immigrants for the bad direction of the economy.
"The notion that Trump can benefit from the same forces that gave partidiários the Brexit most in Britain should sound the alarm in the US Democratic Party," he wrote in an opinion column published Wednesday in the newspaper "The New York Times."
The Vermont senator noted that "at this crucial moment, the Democratic Party and a new Democratic president should make clear that they are next to the fighting and were put aside. We must create national and global economies that work for everyone, not only for multimillionaires. "
"Let us be clear.. The global economy is not working for most people in our country and in the world This is an economic model developed by the economic elite for the benefit of the economic elite need a real change," he added.
A change that is not "based on demagoguery, intolerance and anti-immigration sentiments," noted Sanders, who claimed to be the "central element" of the Trump message, as well as the language used by supporters of "Brexit".
Sanders shot in that direction against the commercial isolation by which advocates Trump against trade agreements such as NAFTA (between the US, Canada and Mexico).
"We need to fundamentally reject the free trade agreements for fair trade policies. Americans should not compete against low-wage workers. We must end the transpacific agreement. We must help countries develop fair economic models," he added.
Sanders mathematically lost the chance to be named the Democratic presidential candidate in early June and has said in an interview that will vote for Hillary Clinton in the November elections.
