The video of five seconds was able to capture the passage of the Moon on Earth in full solar eclipse.
This is how the Earth of space is seen at this moment: with a huge dark spot running through the surface as the Moon continues on its way. The lunar shadow shifts across the earth's surface at a speed of 2,000 kilometers per hour, according to NASA.
Only those observing the phenomenon near the dark spot can see a total solar eclipse, that is, the instant that the Moon interposes directly between the Sun and Earth.
The recording, of only five seconds, captured all the lights that run through the blue planet during the day.
- The video, recorded during the solar eclipse of March 8, 2016 at a distance of 35,000 kilometers from Earth, was made by the Japanese satellite Himawari-8 in geostationary orbit, perpendicular to Earth, on the Pacific Ocean side.
- We will have to wait until 2034 to re-observe such phenomena.
