Chief US Joint Chief of Staff Joseph Dunford no longer believes that Russia can be "singled out" as the only one on the list of threats to US national security.
During the confirmation hearings at his post, Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford described Russia as "the greatest threat to national security," adding that Moscow's behavior was "disturbing"
Two years later, Dunford re-evaluated his analysis of the Russian threat, adding that there are other actors threatening the US, with North Korea being the "main challenge."
Obviously, North Korea today will be our main challenge in terms of the sense of urgency, "said Dunford.
The fight against "violent extremism" as well as "some security challenges in the Pacific with China on the rise" are also major threats to US security.
The American general proposed the development of nuclear and conventional capabilities to contain Russia.
