What would humans be like if they were born on Mars?

It is not today that humans dream of colonizing the red planet, and consequently, if that happened, some people would be born there, right? Well, NASA already makes it clear that children born on Mars would be taller than humans born on Earth, and visiting distant relatives here on Earth would not be possible.

Because here on Earth we are constantly subjected to the force of gravity, on Mars this would not happen. According to aerospace engineer Robert Zubrin, the Martian humans would grow a few inches longer than on Earth, since on Mars the gravity corresponds to a third of ours. Even with some changes, such as gravity, it ensures that the inherited genes would not change, but our spine would lengthen more than on Earth because of the lower degree of attraction that the body would suffer.

What was not going to be easy would be to make the natural people of Mars come to Earth, because they would have serious problems. Dealing with gravity three times larger than his home planet would be complicated, it could cause him to bring problems to his bones. "If you moved to a planet that was three times as big as a Mars shift to Earth, it would weigh 226 kilos more and you would have trouble getting out of bed," explains Robert Zubrin.

Experts are already working to make artificial gravity possible to let the long space travels more "comfortable" to the human structure. NASA says most astronauts grow about five centimeters while they are in space because of the reduced gravity causing the fluid between the vertebrae to expand.

But then, do you think it will ever be possible to have humans born on Mars? Leave a Reply
