New White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci has admitted misinterpreting US President Donald Trump's stance on the sanctions bill against Russia and Iran, reports the New York Times.
On Sunday (23), White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said the Trump administration "supports a tough line on Russia and the introduction of such sanctions in particular." Anthony Scaramucci, meanwhile, said that Donald Trump had not yet made a decision.
"My mistake," he said in an interview with the NYT, adding that he has just taken office as director of Communications for the White House. According to him, it is better to rely on Sanders' statement.
On Saturday (22), it was reported that Republicans and Democrats from both Houses of Congress approved the text of the bill on anti-Russian and anti-Iran sanctions. The document was published on the official website of the Congress and will soon be voted in the House of Representatives (on Tuesday) and the Senate. Then it must be signed by the president.
