NASA will make 'resurrect' legendary Concorde supersonic aircraft with new features

The new supersonic plane will generate the same noise as a car on a highway.

The supersonic voyages are preparing their reappearance. NASA is developing the new supersonic Concorde 2, but with a great advantage over its legendary predecessor: it will be much quieter, reports the Daily Post.

Thus, it is expected to put an end to the resounding noise as it transposed the sound barrier, called the "sonic boom", breaking windows and scaring the animals, among other problems.

The new aircraft will be able to reduce noise up to 65 decibels (the same sound that a car produces on the road), with its predecessor generating 90 decibels. In addition, it will be able to fly at an altitude of 55,000 feet (17,000 meters), while a normal commercial plane flies at an altitude of 30,000 feet (9,000 meters).

Meanwhile, the Concorde 2 will continue to rely on its predecessor's supersonic speeds and be able to halve the duration of commercial flights - for example, the flight time between New York and London will be 3 hours.

The space agency will soon begin accepting bids from various engineering firms for its construction after Trump's administration has included the project in its 2018 budget plans. The aircraft is scheduled to conduct its first test in the year of 2022.

After 27 years of service, Concorde made its last commercial flight in 2003. Its owners, British Airways and Air France, decided to withdraw it due to high maintenance costs and low demand following the plane crash in 2000.
