Washington, June 16 .- The director of the CIA (the US Central Intelligence Agency) of the United States, John Brennan, said on Thursday that the Islamic State (EI) has a "large group of Western fighters" with the capacity to carry out attacks by your account from Western countries.
"We think the Islamic State is training and trying to implement operations to new attacks. The Islamic state has a large number of Western fighters who could serve as agents for attacks in the West," said Brennan in a speech on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
"The group is probably exploring a variety of methods to infiltrate the West, including refugee flows, smuggling routes and legitimate methods of travel," he added.
Brennan said the United States and its allies progress in its offensive against the EI attacks against the financial structure of the terrorist group, although these advances have not diminished the ability of the terrorist group to carry out attacks in different parts of the world.
"Unfortunately, despite all our advances against the Islamic state on the battlefield and in the financial field, our efforts have not reduced the terrorist capacity of the group and its global reach," Brennan said.
In this sense, according to the head of the CIA, the EI should suffer even greater losses of territory, manpower and money to reduce its terrorist capability.
The statement on Brennan's Congress took place a few days after the massacre in Orlando (Florida, USA), where 49 people died and over 50 were injured in a shooting at a nightclub frequented by homosexuals.
