Before he died, Craig Buckby fight with a taxi driver and told the waiter who wanted to play in the river
Buckcby Craig, 31, was found dead in his wheelchair a few meters from his home in Manchester, UK. According to the police which led to the scene, the man was drunk and was only stopped on the way home after securing agents that would be fine. Case happened in January.
Researchers told the British newspaper The Sun that the wheelchair spent the night of his death in a bar in the area where the waiter said he intended to play in the river. Buckby left the place drunk and refused to get out of a taxi when the police arrived. During the confusion, which happened around midnight, he would have told the police to continue driving the electric wheelchair in circles until the officers left the site.
His body was found at 7:40 a.m. the next morning, about 200 meters from his home. The expertise revealed that death was caused by hypothermia added to alcohol intoxication and muscle atrophy. There were no signs of violence and, as he was with money and documents, police also ruled out theft.
In defense, the officers who were with Buckby overnight said he did not appear to be drunk and also could not be stopped, since there was no evidence that he had made suicidal threats or committed any other crime.
Lucy Farrelly agent told the Court that his vehicle came following Buckby a few meters to make sure he was safe. The police left the area around 00h45, about seven hours before Craig Buckby body was found by a man passing on the street.
