It has long been said that this would be the last adventure of Nathan Drake, and supposedly the title game - Uncharted 4: Thiefs End (The End of a thief) implied that we would see the character for the last time. At other times, producers said it was not necessarily the end of the character and that fans could rest easy.
After revealing more about the multiplayer of UC4, showing the novelty of micro-transactions, the lead designer Robert Cogburn said he thought "could be the last game of the saga that Naughty Dog produces."
Declarations of Cogburn and prior to the Neil Druckman show that this can actually be fired, not the character, but the company that produces it in charge of the franchise.
In another opportunity, in an interview with Gamespot, Cogburn casts doubt on the future of the franchise: "As a studio, we feel that this is possibly the last game of Uncharted. But who knows…"
Well, we all know that Uncharted belongs to Playstation brand and could theoretically be produced by another studio, but would it be a good idea. Uncharted Golden Abyss PS Vita game, was developed by another studio (SCE Bend Studio), but it was overseen by Naughty Dog, so if that's the case, I think it might work.
The developer, of course, will return its forces for The Last of Us 2 and future promising projects, but hopefully not leave this saga, which along with Crash made the company name and brought great success to brand playstation.
Uncharted 4 will be released on March 18, 2016 and is a large and an exclusive flagship of PS4.
