Being a beautiful port city and the second largest city in Korea, Busan is extremely popular with tourists. Even reaching very high temperatures in the summer, the city is always full of visitors looking for fun.
Among the attractions are included the magnificent beaches, lively nightlife and traditional markets scattered throughout the city.
The biggest advantage of sightseeing in Busan is that the sights are easily accessible by public transport, especially by subway. In addition to this ease of transport, tourists come also with several street food options at affordable prices close to the stations.
The Busan subway system consists of 5 lines, 1-4 traveling throughout the city, and Gyeongjeoncheol line that offers rail services to the outskirts of the city, linking Busan and Gimhae. One can also buy a day pass, which allows unlimited travel on lines 1-4 until the last subway of the day.
Travelers usually buy the day passes thus arriving at Gimhae International Airport, the train terminal or at the bus terminal of Busan, located near subway stations, giving easy access to the sights. Tickets are available from vending machines located in the stations. It is also offered assistance in four languages (Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese), making international tourists do not feel lost.
The price of a day pass is ₩ 4,500 per person. The machines only accept payment by cash in the form of notes and coins ₩ 1,000 to ₩ 500 and ₩ 100. Remember that these machines do not give change.
