Battle for and against Brexit is fought in the streets of London

                  Manifestantes favoráveis ao Brexit

"We are stronger in Europe!" versus "Let's go!": missing a week for the referendum on the United Kingdom staying in the European Union (EU), of the two options activists distribute leaflets and intensify campaigns on the streets.

It is one o'clock in Fitzrovia, the little bohemian neighborhood of London, where Arthur Rimbaud and Dylan Thomas lived and drunk. The streets are full of people going to lunch.

On a sidewalk, a group of militants "Britain Stronger in Europe", the campaign by staying in the EU, distribute leaflets among the blues that plays in the background in a relaxed environment.

Sheila Hawkins, retired, volunteered as a volunteer to prevent "disaster" that would be Brexit.

"I was so worried, I thought, 'stop worrying and do something about it'," he told AFP.

Peace and Sovereignty

One of his first targets is Awo Davis, 45, undecided, who tries to convince with economic arguments.

But Awo resists: "The EU, well ... I'm not completely convinced," he explains, arguing that the listening in the campaign seems biased.

There are many advocates of stay in the EU between pedestrians as Haran, a student of 19 years, who stops to pick up a campaign sticker. For him, departure from the EU supporters say "bullshit". "Companies would suffer and would enter headlong into a recession."

But some of those who pass by the site are completely favorable to Brexit. As Clive Poole, 57, arguing with a volunteer:

- "It will be back to all those who fought in Europe in the last century In the peace that brought us?" Asks Taylor Jannet.

- "Now tell me that is the EU which protects Europe," says Clive ironic.

- "Thus," says the woman.

-?.?. "And NATO, or are dreaming I will vote for the exit so we can return to the laws made by MPs who can take their positions do not like David Cameron We can take it does not like Jean-Claude Juncker We can not? do anything. "

Pamphlets and food for dogs

Already advocates of "Vote leave", the output of the EU, chose the neighborhood of Croydon, in the suburbs of London, to campaign and defend their point of view.

With a mountain of pamphlets, James Bradley, 38, knocks on the door of a modest house. Seconds later Desiree Peacock, 60, opens the door while holding a can of food for dogs in hand.

- "I will vote for the exit," explains quickly the woman, who sees the referendum as a chance to recover the "lost identity".

Doors down, Marcin Kurdzialek, Polish 34-year notes with curiosity militants. As it is not British will not vote, it does not mean you do not have an opinion.

"If the UK had not entered the EU, I would not be here," says this small business. "Very sorry if other people did not have the same opportunities as I do," he adds.
