The music broadcast only via streaming through services like Apple Music or Spotify, can henceforth be given the prestigious Grammy Awards, announced on Thursday the organizers of this award in the music industry in the United States.

The National Academy of Arts and Sciences of the Recording, which grants the Grammy said that expanded the definition of "general distribution" to include musical platforms "subscription, on demand or by download" that have existed for at least one year.

The decision makes the hip hop artist Chance the Rapper, for example, to be eligible for the award. The album "Colorín Book" rapper became the first musical release exclusively in streaming into the top 200 of the BillBoard magazine.

"Throughout the year members of the music community sought to ask us to do changes in the nomination of the awards process, and work with them to see how these changes can work," said Bill Freimuth, vice president of the Academy Awards.

Next year, the Grammy awards ceremony will be held on February 12 in Los Angeles. The nominees will be announced on December 6.
