Comets can be heavenly bodies, but their scents are anything but divine. Using data collected by the Philae probe used during orbitadora Rosetta mission to explore the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko, British scientists have created a gas whose smell is similar to the comet. Hardly anyone will find that this fragrance is pleasant, and the odor of the comet's gases reminiscent of rotten eggs, cat urine and bitter almonds. Comet smell of water does not seem very tempting now, is not it?

Jacob Aron, journalist of "New Science", had the opportunity to smell. "I almost feel the smell as something physical and real inside my skull," he told "Sky News" agency after experiencing the colony. "Smell this perfume was a slap in the face of the fragrance. Surprisingly, it is not as bad as my first impression led me to believe. Somehow some floral notes stand out, "he said.

The list of gases that inspired the fragrance includes hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and hydrogen cyanide, but given that some of these are poisonous, the creators not used directly. The smell was commissioned by Colin Snodgrass from the Open University and created by a British team of scientists called Aroma Company
