Brazil signs preliminary contract for purchase of Russian Ka-62 helicopters

Brazil and Russia have signed a preliminary contract to supply the Latin American country with 10 Ka-62 helicopters, Russian Minister of Industry and Commerce Denis Manturov said.

"We have a preliminary agreement with one of the Brazilian companies on Ka-62 helicopters [...], preliminarily it is about 10 helicopters, but the first delivery will be made only from 2020, once the homologation is completed," said the minister to the Russian channel Rossiya 24 on the banks of the East Economic Forum.

Able to operate at temperatures between -50 and +45 degrees Celsius, the Ka-62 is designed for different missions, such as freight and personnel transportation for the oil and gas industry, medical evacuation, surveillance tasks, rescue operations and utilities services.

The third edition of the East Economic Forum is being held from 6 to 7 September in the Russian city of Vladivostok, in the Russian Pacific, bringing together over 5,000 delegates from more than 60 countries.
