The searches for extraterrestrial life are not in vain! In recent times, 15 signals were detected from a dwarf galaxy located 3 billion light-years from Earth, which apparently were sent by an extraterrestrial civilization.
The astrophysicists of the Breakthrough Listen project, which looks for extraterrestrial civilizations, have detected numerous radio waves. The main secret of these radio impulses, named FRB 121102, is established in their frequency. The actual transmission of the signals in question is performed in a frequency band of four to eight GHz.
This is the first time that fast radio signals are emitted at very high frequencies.
Although the source is still unclear, Breakthrough Listen researchers do not exclude the possibility that FRB 121102 was generated by a rotating neutron star. Even so, they are still hoping they will be attempts by an extraterrestrial civilization to make contact, reports the Daily Mail.
The Breakthrough Listen project is a scientific initiative supported by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, British physicist Stephen Hawking, and Russian millionaire Yuri Milner. It is estimated that the project will spend US $ 100 million.
