Plane is diverted safely after pilot's death in flight in the US

An American Airlines plane company needed to have the route diverted after the pilot died during the journey. The aircraft went from Phoenix to Boston but ended up landing in Syracuse, New York.

They were aboard Flight 550, the A320 aircraft, five crew members and 147 passengers.

"We are incredibly saddened by this event and we are focusing on caring for the family and colleagues of the pilot," the AA in a note. "We are also taking care of our customers and we send another team to take them to Boston."

The company said the pilot became ill during the flight and died, without giving further details.
