The stone has cuneiform, which was used at the time to record exchanges, sales and work. The record found in Mesopotamia is therefore the oldest working receipt ever seen.

Payment in beer, that is to say, it was not unique to Mesopotamia. It is estimated that workers in ancient Egypt also received in beer. The remuneration for people working building pyramids is estimated between 4 and 5 liters of beer.

In the Middle Ages, as noted by Ars Technica site, workers also received wine instead of coins.
