
Italian actor rose to fame in acting subgenre of Westerns, combining scenes of fight and mood. Baptized as Carlos Pedersoli, he was successful also as an athlete, playing two Olympic Games.
The Italian actor Bud Spencer, artistic name of Carlo Pedersoli, died on Monday (27/06) after 86 years. The statement was made by her according to his son, Giuseppe Pedersoli, who said that Spencer died together with his family in a hospital in Rome.
Besides star of the "Spaghetti Western" subgenre of Westerns produced in Italy and Spain and popular in the decades of 19060 and 1970, Spencer was successful also as an athlete, playing two Olympic Games
"Dad went serenely at 18:15 (local time). He did not suffer, we all had with him, and his last word was 'thank you'," Giuseppe said, according to Italian media.
The Minister of Culture of Italy, Dario Franceschini, also lamented Spencer's death. "Get lost a great actor of our cinema that in the course of his long career, knew fun generations and conquer the audience with his very great professionalism."
"Ciao #Bud Spencer. So many liked you," he wrote in his Twitter account the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
The last appearance of the actor on television was in 2010, in a series of fiction of Italy's Canale 5 called "I delitti del cuoco" (The Cook crimes).
The actor was known mainly by charismatic roles in some of the so-called "Spaghetti Western", especially comedy, along with Mario Girotti, the real name of Terence Hill.
Due to his imposing physique, he began working on such films as "Quo Vadis?" (1951), but his first major role was the aggressive Nando's Mario Monicelli film "A Hero of Our Times" (1955).
In 1957, Pedersoli left Italy to South America, where he worked as a construction worker. And after returning to his native country, he was successful in music writing for singers of the moment as Ornella Vanoni and Nico Fidenco.
His return to cinema was with the work "God Forgives ... I Do not!", 1967, which marked the kind of character that Spencer would play later, the gentle giant, but very good fight.
But it was his partnership with Terence Hill that catapulted him to fame, launching an authentic film genre with films like "The Four Ave Maria" (1968), "The Hill of Bad Men" (1969), "They Call Me Trinity" ( 1970), "Trinity is Still My Name" (1971), among many others.
In the 80s, Bud Spencer starred in films in partnership with Terence Hill who mixed mood and action, but without the ambiance of the Old West, as "Who finds a friend, finds a treasure" (1981), "Two Madmen with Lucky" (1983 ), "I, You, He and the Others" (1984) - filmed in Rio de Janeiro - and "the Two Super-Strips in Miami" (1985).
Carlo Pedersoli also wanted to make the leap to politics, and in 2005 competed in the regional elections in Lazio, whose capital is Rome, the Forza Italia party of Silvio Berlusconi, but was not elected.
Before becoming world famous as an actor, Pedersoli was 20 times Italian champion in swimming medley evidence and styles breaststroke and butterfly. In July 1950, at age 20, he became the first Italian to swim the 100 meters medley under 1 minute (59s5).
Pedersoli competed in two Olympic Games, Helsinki 1952 and Melbourne 1956. In addition, he practiced water polo, the SS Lazio, rugby and boxing.
