Cuba and US explore channels of cooperation against terrorism

Cuba and the United States in Havana evaluate ways to prevent and fight terrorism, within the framework of normalization of relations sus process, said on Thursday the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, held on Wednesday, the two delegations discussed "possibilities for cooperation" on "prevention and combat against terrorism," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"They agreed on the importance of advancing cooperation in this sphere and agreed to continue technical meetings on the subject in the future," says the text.

The United States participated in the first "technical meeting" on terrorism officials from the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice, while Cuba attended by representatives of the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, the Attorney General and the Attorney General Customs.

United States and Cuba reestablished in July diplomatic relations after half a century of disruption and political confrontation, and now advance in the long and difficult process of full normalization of their bilateral relations.

Since announced defrost history, in December 2014, both countries held meetings on various topics, such as human rights, anti-drug cooperation and anti-money laundering, health, civil aviation, telecommunications, environmental protection, trade and investment.
