NASA gives first step to create internet connection in space

Space Agency has installed a system that sends certain 'packages' independent data

United States - was given the first step to create the first internet connection in space, an innovative system that can put communication satellites, space stations, and maybe one day, humans inhabiting other planets throughout the solar system.

The North American Space Agency (NASA) has just installed on the International Space Station (ISS) technology that is the basis for an Internet connection, the DTN (Delay / Disruption Tolerant Networking).

The technology consists in a system that sends information in certain "packages" independent data that are united in their final destination, thereby transmitting a message.

The DTN is very useful for space as it can cope well with long lasting periods of connectivity interruptions, which makes it ideal for, for example, receive information from a probe in orbit of Pluto or a rover on one of the moons Saturn without worrying about possible disruptions signal and communication blockages due to traffic other planets and celestial bodies.

The action of NASA is just a beginning for the creation of an internet network. So that the space is connected, you need the technology to be installed in places other than the ISS. The greater the number of recesses in which the DA is working, the greater the network and the better connection.
