North Korea is ready for a "counter-attack" on the "provocation" of the United States - said its Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho, on Thursday (15) during the Countries Movement Summit Non-Aligned Movement ( MNA) held in Venezuela.
"The people of Korea indicated that we are ready to make a counterattack against the provocation of the enemy," said Yong-ho, speaking at the meeting of foreign ministers of NAM, according to the translation of an interpreter.
The warning comes after, on Friday (9), North Korea made a fifth nuclear test in Punggye-ri, in the northeast.
After the powerful trial, two American bombers B-1B flew over South Korea on Tuesday (13), in a show of force against the Pyongyang regime.
Minister Ri Yong-ho justified nuclear tests before it denounced as "threats" of Washington, who have already made similar flights to the last Tuesday, in response to earlier tests.
"It was inevitable that the DPRK would use the nuclear weapons option after you have done everything to protect national security, in view of the constant threats from the United States," he argued the chancellor.
Yong-ho considered the tests as part of a policy of "legitimate" defense and said the US military exercises have led the Korean Peninsula to a situation of "danger and out of control."
"Our nuclear weapons are not in contradiction with the position of the MNA, which is anti-nuclear and anti-proliferation," said the minister to his colleagues and delegates from the 120 countries that make up this block created in the Cold War.
North Korea also conducted missile tests in recent months.
