Washington, June 25 (EFE) .- At least two people were killed, 2,000 have been evacuated and more than 12 thousand hectares burned because of a fire in central California, authorities said Saturday.
California Governor Jerry Brown said on Friday the state of emergency in Kern County, southern Sierra Nevada.
Currently, more than 800 firefighters are trying to fight the blaze, which has razed 150 homes.
The two victims were an elderly couple who died while trying to leave the house in which he lived, according to the office of sheriff of Kern County.
The authorities have warned that it is expected that the fire go over during the weekend fueled by high temperatures.
"It's hot. It is dry. There is wind. If you did not leave your home now, get ready for it," said Tyler Townsend, the captain of county firefighters, told by "The Times" newspaper.
For now, only 5% of the fire was controlled.
They have not yet been clarified the causes of the fire, which began on Thursday in a rural area east of Bakersfield, in the center of the state, south of the Sierra Nevada.
