Rome - The US Secretary of State, John Kerry, who arrived on Sunday in Rome, Italy, will travel on Monday to Brussels (Belgium) and London (UK), for - according to him - reaffirm by Washington the "unshakeable association (US) with the European Union and the United Kingdom."

Kerry made the announcement on Twitter after meeting in Rome with Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni.

The Secretary of State said at a news conference after the meeting that his country "will continue to have a close and special relationship with Britain" despite the outcome of the referendum on the European Union Thursday.

The chief US diplomat detailed that will meet with the High Representative of the European Union, Federica Mogherini, and with the Minister of the UK Foreign Affairs, Philip Hammond.

"It can not change the vote," Kerry said on "Brexit".

The US Secretary of State added that "on the other hand, the EU has to take steps to respond to the citizens of the voters and the concerns of other countries."

The Secretary of State must also meet in Rome with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will arrive today to the Italian capital, and will meet on Monday morning with the Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi.
