São Paulo - Researchers at the University of Bristol took 51 heterosexual men aged between 18 and 69 years to answer a few simple questions: first showed pictures of 20 women and asked that each received a score from 0 to 100 according to their beauty.
Then they asked what was likely to use condoms if they were having sex with these same women. The result surprised them involved in the research - the more beautiful was considered the woman, the less chance to use condoms in a relationship with her.
They are still trying to understand why this happens, but for now the answers are vague. In an interview with americanoWashington Post, Roger Ingham, sexologist at the University of Southampton and co-author of the research, suggested that this may have to do with the children that may arise from there.
"The study indicates that men want to play with women they find most attractive," he says. The opposite is also true. Respondents preferred to use condoms with women they did not think so beautiful.
And this has nothing to do with the fact that they believe that the most beautiful have fewer illnesses. On the contrary, even they thought these women were more likely to transmit illness - since, like them, other men also topariam unprotected sex.
"This shows an apparently irrational behavior of the prospect of avoiding infection: men attracted to high-risk women use condoms with safer women, they feel less attraction," the researchers write in the conclusion of the study.
The idea of those involved in the research is to point out that, clearly, there is much to be improved in sex education classes.
The researchers even suggest the creation of a game that shows how the attraction you feel for a person should not diminish the care in a relationship - the plan is that this strategy works best with younger people, who already have a pre-disposition to like more content in video games.
