Die Father Gabriele Amorth, known as the most famous exorcist in the world
Father Gabriele Amorth, probably the most famous exorcist in the world with a 30-year career fighting the devil, died at age 91 in Rome, Italy, in a clinic where he was hospitalized for lung problems.
Amorth who died late on Friday (16), according to information released Saturday by media outlets, he said that during his lifetime had performed 70,000 exorcisms.
Born in 1925 in Modena, Amorth joined the Society of St. Paul in 1947, where he was ordained as a priest in 1951. In 1985 he was appointed official exorcist of the Diocese of Rome.
He was a founder in 1990 of the International Association of Exorcists (IEA), organization that presided until his retirement in 2000, and has only recently been legally recognized by the Vatican to receive the green light of the Congregation for the Clergy.
His death was confirmed by the publishing group San Paolo, with which the priest had published several books like "God is more beautiful than the Devil" (2015) considered their human and spiritual will.
His appointment as the official exorcist made him a celebrity in the world and in interviews he gave, ensured that received up to 600 applications per day to perform exorcisms.
