Iran threatens to attack aircraft of the US Navy

Marinha dos Estados Unidos

Iranian military threatened to shoot down two aircraft of the US Navy who flew over the Strait of Hormuz, said on Tuesday an official Defense AFP, the last of the incidents with Tehran.

Two "maritime patrol aircraft" flew on separate missions in international airspace earlier this month when they received three radio calls by the Iranian air defense.

"They were threatening to shoot to knock or throw the missiles," the official said Defense, who requested anonymity.

According to Fox News, the first station to report the incident, the US aircraft ignored the warning and continued their mission.

One of the defense staff who was not identified told the station that the US Army wanted to know what would be the reactions of Iranians.

The official spoke to AFP and said the incident was "unprofessional", but that was not considered unsafe since the American planes were out of reach of the known Iranian anti-aircraft missiles.
