Paralympics-2016 hit the two million mark in ticket sales

Paraolimpíada-2016 atingiu marca de mais de dois milhões de ingressos vendidos

The Organizing Committee of Rio 2016 announced that the Paralympics should hit the target of 2 million tickets sold, a total of 2.5 million made available to the public. This amount must be reached by Thursday, 15, as the event registers an average of 40,000 tickets sold per day.

Until 10 am on Tuesday, 13, 1.96 million were sold, according to the organization. Only on Monday, 12, a day after the end of the week the Paralympic Park recorded attendance record, were acquired 60,000 entries.

These figures make the Rio Games the second edition in the amount of public in the history of Special Olympics, behind London 2012, with 2.8 million sold tickets.

The Rio-2016, now lives a curious situation. In late August asked for help to the public coffers under the justification of having sold a few tickets to the Paralympic Games, which would prejudice the budget of the event. The Rio-2016 achieved R $ 250 million from public coffers. Of which R $ 150 million came in were agreement with the city of Rio. The rest, in sponsorship with federal government companies, as Embratur, Cash Sweepstakes, Apex and Petrobras.

By 21 August, only 200,000 tickets had been bought for the entire event. Not even the promotion of R $ 10 on the cheapest ticket for any fan captivated the session. Students and seniors still pay half this amount. The complaint was that the disclosure of the event was not publicized to the frequency and intensity it should, hence the low demand for tickets. federal government, the Brazilian Paralympic Committees and International, besides the Organizing Committee itself intensified the campaign. And the numbers began to change gradually.

The accelerator of ticket sales was a good campaign of the Brazilian Olympic team the last two days of the Olympic Games. Last Saturday and Sunday event Brazil won three consecutive gold medals: beach volleyball, indoor volleyball (both in men) and men's soccer, this unprecedented last before a packed Maracana.

Three days after the Olympic closing ceremony, Rio-16 registered a record 145,000 tickets sold for the Paralympics in 24 hours. Not the Olympic were capable of such a feat. Thereafter, followed by an average of 40 to 50,000 tickets per day. To arrive on Friday, 9 to 1.8 million sold mark entries.

On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11, the park received more than 327,000 people, according to the Organizing Committee. The attendance record was on Saturday with 170,000. The best mark so far was Saturday, August 6, the second day of the Olympic Games, with 157,000 fans.

During the weekdays the Paralympics, the site registers about 70,000 people daily.
