Pentagon is concerned about publishing secret data on US bases in Syria

The Pentagon is concerned about the publication of secret data on US bases in Syria as it could affect the actions of the coalition against the terrorists of the US-led Daesh, the Pentagon official Eric Pahon.

Turkish news agency Anadolu has published data on the location of US bases in Syria.

"For operational safety reasons we did not disclose the location of coalition forces participating in the operation in Syria against Daesh," the Pentagon official said. "The publication of this sensitive information puts the coalition forces at unnecessary risk and may affect operations to defeat the Daesh," he added.

"We can not independently confirm the sources used in the publication, but we would be very concerned if officials from a NATO allied country put our forces in danger on purpose by releasing information of this kind," Pahon said.

The agency has published a report detailing the locations of 10 US military bases in Syria.

Relations between the United States and Turkey escalated after the United States began delivering arms and vehicles to Kurdish militias fighting Daesh terrorists in Syria.
