Minister of Education of Bolsonaro said that coup of 1964 should be celebrated

Candidato à presidência Jair Bolsonaro, 7 de outubro de 2018

President-elect Jair Bolsonaro named the new education minister last Thursday (22), Colombian naturalized Brazilian Ricardo Vélez Rodrigues, who is a critic of the left and teaching about gender in schools.

The future Minister of Education published in 2017 a text in his blog stating that the March 31, 1964, date that marked the military coup in Brazil, is "a date to remember and celebrate." The information was disclosed by the Folha de S. Paulo panel column.

In a text entitled "March 31, 1964: it is patriotic and necessary to remember that date", Vélez Rodriguez classified the Truth Commission, created to investigate the crimes of the dictatorship, as a "staging" and "absurd initiative".

"The ill-fated 'Truth Commission' which, in my view, was more a staging of 'omission of truth', was the most absurd initiative that petralhas tried to impose," said the future minister referring to the PT.

According to the publication of the new minister, "in the thirteen years of lulopetista misrule, the militants and leaders of the PT and its associates tried, by all means, to demoralize the memory of our military and the government they had established in 64".

"Fortunately public opinion, including the Armed Forces, reacted in time and the petralhas failed to implant this Marxist hoax, whose sole purpose was to strengthen the PT in order to become the hegemonic 'new prince' touted by Gramsci, in order to to guarantee the definitive installation of Lula and his caterva in power.

We know today that the 'revolution' intended by the PT consisted in stealing without any opposition, "the text continues.

When talking about the violence practiced by the military during the dictatorship period, Velez Rodriguez simply said that "there were excesses regarding repression."
