Christopher Precopia was facing 99 years in prison, but was able to prove his innocence thanks to a selfie, KVUE reported.

In September 2017, the young man was arrested and charged with assaulting an ex-girlfriend. The girl told police that Christopher had invaded her home and injured her with a paper knife, leaving an x-shaped cut on her chest.

The accusation was based only on the girl's words, while Christopher insisted that he spent the night with his family. Even so, he was arrested and the prosecution demanded for him 99 years in prison. The boy was released later when his relatives paid $ 150,000 bail, but he still had to prove his innocence.

The boy was saved by a photo he had made the night of the alleged attack and posted on the nets. That day, he was having dinner with his mother in a hotel forty miles from the alleged victim's home. The selfie with the marked time and location convinced the police that Christopher could not have committed the alleged crime.

She later admitted to having invented the whole story to avenge her ex-boyfriend with whom she had difficult relationships.

According to the media, in the case there are many aspects unclear. For example, if the girl was even attacked or cut herself and why the police did not immediately believe the testimony of the people who were at the restaurant with Christopher that night.
