Lula says he will seek candidacy for the presidency in 2018

The former president said that Moro tries to get him out of the political game


Former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Thursday that the conviction of 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment determined by Judge Sérgio Moro has a very strong political component and said he feels an attempt to get him out of the political game Before the presidential elections of 2018.

Lula also stated in a press statement at the PT' national headquarters in São Paulo that there is no evidence against him in the case, and that the only evidence that exists is that of his innocence.

The former president said he will claim from the PT the right to run for president by the party in the 2018 election.

"If anyone thinks that with that sentence they got me out of the game, they can know that I'm in the game," Lula said in a statement to the press, a day after he was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison by Judge Sérgio Moro.

"Whoever thinks it's the end of Lula will break the face, because only in politics who has the right to decree my end is the Brazilian people," he said.

Lula says the complaint is based on a lie, and his lawyers have announced they will appeal.
